Happy Friday
Hello parents and students,
Wow what a quick week. There were some wonderful things that happened this week, which made me very proud of our class and the direction that we are going. Wednesday was just such a perfect day! Everyone was focused and learning at full capacity. It's so nice to see that when it happens, so thank you! Let's keep the ball rolling with the work habits and classroom behaviour! Just a reminder that parent teacher interviews will be on Nov 27, from 8:30 am to 2;30 pm. Please sign up online or phone the school (A newsletter went home last week). The conference will be mainly led by your child, so please remember to bring them.
This week we covered the following concepts:
Math- in math with continued to review divisibility strategies and rules, we looked at short division vs long division and practiced both types. Today we had a quiz. Next week we will be started to look at Fractions. Please use the learning support links on the blog to help your child review the concepts we are working on.
LA- this week we completed a number of book chats for our literacy circle unit. The students have been focusing on the reading strategy of asking questions. We also worked on our "ouch story" where we learned about effective narrative leads and how to plan for writing a personal narrative. Other topics discussed were the steps of the writing process. There were some wonderful rough drafts completed. Thank you for you hard work and patience!
French- in French we worked on our skits, which we will perform next week. We ran out of time today, so we didn't start our performances this week.
Gym- this week we started Fit Camp. What an awesome groups of campers! Div 02 rocked the exercise stations and the are now teaching other classes. If your son or daughter is a little sore that means that they have been working hard.
Science- we reviewed and prepared for our Science quiz on matter (this will take place on Monday)
Drama- we learned a few new activities- improv freeze, samurai, kitty in the corner
Have a great weekend!
Mr. Tobacca
