Hello

Hello Parents and Div 02 students,

Thank you for another great week in room 231.  A ton of learning took place this week and I'm proud of the hard work that everyone put in.  Our websites looks awesome.

Important Reminder:  We are starting a French project next week "Ma Famille" and each student needs to interview their parents and family members about their likes and dislikes.  Parents please help support your child with this task. (This is done in English)

This week in our classroom we explored the following concepts:

Math- we started to look at patterns and explored algebra.  Grade 6 looked at identifying patterns and rules of input/out tables and the 7's looked at what an algebraic expression is.  We finished the week by looking what does equality mean and balancing equations.

LA-  in LA we focused on completing our class novel and we started a poetry unit.  Yesterday we brainstormed what we know about poetry and we discussed what figurative language is.  As a class we focused on the literary term personification and identified it in a poem written by Emily Dickinson. Today we finished the week with our weekly spelling test!

Science- the students are finishing up their website design on ecosystems or renewable energy.  Parents you should have your child show you their website they are awesome!

Social Studies- today the grade 6's participated in a a mini lesson that looked at the right and responsibilities of people that live in Japan.  We also compared land forms, climate, traditions, and sports in Canada and Japan.  The grade 7's are finishing up their ancient civilizations newspapers and they are starting to film their presentations for the class.

French- we started looking at basic french expression about our family members.  Students have been asked to survey their family members about their likes and dislikes.

Gym- in Gym we have been learning about Rugby and we did Fit Camp today.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Please read for 30+ minutes with a parent.

Thanks

Hello Parents and Students of Div 02,
