Jersey Day!

Hello Parents and Students of Div 02,

Today it was jersey day at Queneesh.  Thank you to all of those students and teachers that participated in both pajama day and jersey day.  I would also like to wish everyone a wonderful Valentine's day tomorrow.

In room 231 we covered the following topics this week:

Math- adding and subtracting integers using a number line and tiles.  The students are still struggling with subtracting integers, so please takes some time to review this with your child or have them play the new integer game on our blog.  Next week we will start order of operations.

LA- we continued to work on paragraph writing.  This week we focused on descriptive paragraph writing by completing a "monster match" writing activity.  We also continued to read "My Name is Seepeetza" and practiced our Daily 5.  Our spelling program will fire up next Tuesday!

Gym- we learned a new game called Blastball Baseball, we played belly ball and had a dance off today!

Science- the students are designing websites using weebly.  They are looking at sustainable options for energy and for maintaining ecosystems.

Socials- the grade 7's explored what sparked early civilizations and the 6's worked on a jigsaw activity that focused on Canadian culture, multiculturalism, stereotypes and media.

Art- we spent some time decorating our classroom for valentines day and making valentines.

Thank you for an awesome week.  I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!
