Happy Friday!

Hello Parents and Div 10 Students,

What an awesome work week we had at Queneesh.  I really love coming to work everyday to work with such a hard working group of learners.  Congratulations to those Div 10 students who were selected for our SD 71 Track Meet: Samantha, Trent, Nolan, Kaitlyn (Track Meet is on Tuesday May 17th).

This week in room 231 we covered the following learning concepts:

Math: we finished of our last lessons on transformations (translations, rotations and reflections).  We will complete our geometry unit by having the student design their own mini golf course by using their geometric skills learned in class. This will start on Monday!

LA: this week we focused our attention on First Nation oral story telling.  We explored a variety of stories/legends told by BC First Nation groups.  We discussed the importance of story telling and the key components to telling an engaging story.  Next week we will have an oral story teller join us and we will be retelling our own oral story to a small group.

Gym: we learned two new games in gym this week: container ball and roller ball.  I'm hoping that in the upcoming weeks this we can design a Frisbee golf course and play it on our school fields.

Social Studies: last week we kicked off our BC First Nations unit.  We are currently learning about the climate, location, resources, spiritual beliefs of BC First Nations.

Art: in the upcoming weeks we will be working on designing masks which will be related to writing a story.  There will be two guest speakers to talk about the history and design of masks.

Thank you for a great week!
