Happy Weekend!

Hello parents and students.

Thank you grade 7's for your time and hard work with the FSA testing.  It was another busy week in room 231. Please take the time to have a short conversation with your child about the concepts we learned this week.

We covered the following concepts this week:

Math- reviewed the parts of a fraction, types of fractions, how to represent a fraction and how mixed numbers and improper fractions are linked.  There will be a learning reflection on Monday!

LA- we continued to read our novel "How To Steal A Dog."  Please read to chapter 20 for Monday.  We also learned how to support our thinking by using quotes.  Next week impromptu writing and conventions will be our focus.

Science- In Science we completed our Galaxies and Early universe unit.  We started researching the planets in our solar system.  Each student is working on completing a planetary guide (this will be due next week).

Socials- Next week we will be learning about major Glaciation periods and how they impacted the migration of Early Man.  We will also be exploring the following questions.  What was the Stone Age and how did it lead to Early Civilizations?

Gym- due to Robotics it was hard to find consistency with our gym schedule.  We played some kicking games and throwing games.  We went outside when we could and we started Go Noodle.

Art- This week in Art we learned about the colour wheel, primary colours, secondary colours and complimentary colours.  The students created an illusion using complimentary colours.

French- the students are learning about the French alphabet and colours.

Have a great weekend!
